Natalie IMBRUGLIA : soft gem and profound creativity...

I discovered the delicate madness of Natalie Imbruglia when I came upon the song "That day", back to 2002. At the time, I was on my way to a 10 days shooting of the film 'Adresse unknown", based on the book by Katherine Kressmann Taylor...

The film was shot in the snowy Forez, below Lyon. There were many things to look upon...

The day before leaving Paris, I heard a sonic effluvium in my head, that I couldn't identify right away. I had to sit...

Then I realized I was winging along "That day", and the incredible passion of Natalie Imbruglia song that goes in t, with it.

In an irrational move 5 (I had 6 bags to pack), I took the metro for downtown Paris to buy the record, that I desperately needed, for my emotional sake. The retailer had just the maxi single, whose cover I loved.

Since that day (sorry for the pun), this song has always been a catalyst for me, when I need some spiritual uplifting.

I've bought all their records ever since. To my opinion, they are sometimes over-produced, and too trends-converted. Natalie's voice and words could be much more incendiary in a rawest way, with a sparse sound...

I think that Natalie is a profound artist and human being (as far as I can imagine). She would have been a terrific actress, in danger-zone films, and, who knows, she still may become a cinema passionaria...

To direct her would be a dream come true. That may happen one day...
